Sometimes, people don’t like touristy places. What they miss is that people go to places which are nice, and the demand means there are lots of fun things to do! North Devon shows both these points – it’s a beautiful area with wonderful beaches and a huge variety of activities to enjoy. Here, we let you know some of our favourites!

Bike hire…

Sorry, we had to put this in! We may be biased, seeing as we are both a bike hire place, plus very keen cyclists, but cycle hire really is one of the best ways to see the sights and enjoy the flatness of the Tarka Trail! Get from Braunton to Barnstable to Woolacombe to *Insert place here* in the most fun way possible. What’s more, many of these activities below can be reached by having a cycle – two activities combined into one!

Milky Way Adventure Park

An absolute classic Adventure Park, and a family attraction in the truest sense. The Milky Way has things to keep all ages happy.

Are you a family that enjoys a good coaster? Check. Dodgems your thing? They’ve got that too. Get a bit of nature with a bird of prey show, or let the kids loose in one of the play areas. They are known for their seasonal events too, so make sure you have a look at their website for the latest activities!

Clovely

In our humble opinion, Clovely is one of the most beautiful villages out there. Owned by the Queen for many a year, this picturesque village that’s perched on the edge of a cliff is stunningly preserved. Insane views are complemented by the complete lack of cars which are banned from the village. Donkeys and sledges provide the horsepower, so you feel like you’ve been pushed back in time by a few centuries.

This is a great way to appreciate the serenity of the coast. It’s such a unique place that it’s worth going out of your way to visit it. A must see in our books!

Exmoor Zoo

Everyone loves a zoo – they’re for everyone, not just kids! For a fairly small zoo, Exmoor has a fantastic array of animals to enjoy. Go visit the infamous Exmoor Beast, an animal which has been sighted in the area for decades. Want something a bit scarier, then go visit the marmosets! There are animals for all ages and all interests so get on over here and have an amazing time!
